Your Guide, James Lawson-Smith
I began my early hunting career in Kwa-Zulu Natal and the Karoo, and hunted Kudu, Duiker, Common Reedbuck and Nyala. Our family then relocated to Hermanus where I had the opportunity to hunt Eland, Bontebok, Vaal Rhebuck and Springbok, and developed an intimate knowledge of the hunting areas and game within the Western Cape.
I am a keen wing shooter and love a day in the veld with one of my Springer Spaniels.
From an early age I dived for Crayfish and Abalone. I gained my Springbok colours for the South African Spear Fishing Team in 2004, at the World Championships in Chile.
As a result of my forays into the wild, I have experienced incredible sightings and opportunities and developed a very keen interest in photography.
After my schooling, I did my military service in the South African Navy.
I completed my tertiary education at Elsenburg Agricultural College in Stellenbosch. This was followed by a course in underwater diving in Cape Town.
I then pursued a career in the Aquaculture Industry, and for 15 years was CEO/GM/MD of an Abalone Farm in the Western Cape.
I am married with 3 children and live in the beautiful coastal town of Hermanus.Image: James and his son, Daniel
